Ripley's new book: The Remarkable...Revealed will be in stores on August 7th, 2007.
You will see a familiar face on pg. 241: me.
Ripley's honored me with inclusion in their newest book for running 52 marathons in 52 consecutive weekends last year. As a young fan of the Ripley's show with Jack Palance and his daughter co-hosting ,as well as the numerous books I read in the libraries when I was supposed to be doing homework, I cannot say how absolutely "cool" this is to be part of the Ripley's legacy.
Sure, there are many other adjectives to aptly describe my feelings but when I was first contacted by Ripley's last year about their decision to do so if I completed the task, the first word that came to my mind was one of a 10 year-old Dane: "Cool!"
So this is just a little heads-up for those of you interested in getting the book. You can bet I will get one. For the kid in all of us (and the one that is still very much present in me) who love to see what wonders there are in the world, I may get two!

Cool deal Dane.
When I worked downtown Atlanta the Hyatt Museum of Art had a branch in the bottom floor of our high rise and the exhibit for a couple of months was a Ripley's exhibit. I visited it quite a few times and it was always cool stuff.
Please don't take this as trying to critize you, I'm simply seeking clarification as to what record you will hold. I know that Richard Worley set the Guinness world record for most marathons run on consecutive weekends when he ran 200 in 159 weeks from 1997 to 2000.
Sorry, I clearly had a brain fart and didn't read closely. It's terrible when the mind sees what it wants to. You will be in Ripley, not Guinness.
He sure did. I wish I could find out which races he ran as I know there was no Xmas marathon in 2000 and I wonder if he ran a certified distance. I have dropped him a few emails but have never received a response.
As for Guiness I applied for a record for the fastest marathon average for 52 consecutive marathons in consective weekends and they told me no such record existed. Seems like the perfect time to start one, doesn't it?
Just one last comment. It doesn't say he ran his last marathon the last week of 2000, it just gives the range of years from 97 to 2000. So he might have had to end his streak with Dallas White Rock on the on Dec. 10th 2000 which I know he did run.
Good point. He may have. Unfortunatly I have not found a marathon during that holiday weekend and am curious where he found his.
